Making Time for Fun

Surviving a Layoff / Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

When dealing with difficulties, don’t forget to take the time to have fun with your family!

Everyone needs a little reprieve from the normal stresses of life. It is even more important to band together as a family when the going gets tough, because family is what matters the most.

We had about 5 inches of snow today, and the temperature was nice and mild. The perfect opportunity to go outdoors for some wholesome fun.

The kids went right to work making their snowmen…

They said this one below is a snowwoman.  Notice the carrot on top of her head. Looks like hair.

My daughter was super proud of her snowhamster below. Of course, that was my first guess.  Looks just like one, doesn’t it?  Maybe, if hamsters like carrots. Hehehe.

Now, this one has the right shape of a snowman. They had trouble putting the heads on without breaking them.

After a few snowball fights, we decided to make snowcones!

Even though it took an hour to get everyone into snowgear, it only took 10 minutes to shed the wet hats, gloves, coats, boots and snowpants. Here it all is drying out.

To end the afternoon, we topped off our fun with a cup of warm cocoa.

Now they are content. All tuckered out, with cute little glowing cheeks. A wonderful day to warm my heart.
