What’s the Difference Between a Fresh and Frozen Butterball Turkey?

Are you scrambling to find the frozen Butterball Turkey's at BJ's? Wondering if you should grab the fresh turkey? When I was at BJs yesterday I was shocked to see the fresh turkey very much frozen.

Rock solid bottom in fact.

Below is a video where our Frozen butterball turkey's and fresh turkeys are. If you didn't realize BJ's is offering FREE Butterball Fresh or Frozen turkey's this year when you buy any of these three items.

In the video I saw that the fresh Turkey's were indeed quite frozen. My question for you is, what is the difference between a fresh and frozen Butterball turkey? The fresh ones at our club were rock solid at the bottom. Is it because they are partially thawed?'

I did a little googling and here is what I found.

There are absolutely no quality differences between fresh and frozen turkeysFrozen turkeys are flash-frozen immediately after they are packaged to Zero Deg. … Once thawed, the meat of a frozen turkey is virtually as fresh as the day it was packaged. Fresh turkeys are chilled after packaging, rather than frozen.

Hmm well here's the thing I discovered at our BJ's, if they are refridgerated then the temperatures in the fridge is too high?

Here is another quote.

The National Turkey Federation says, “There is no quality difference between a fresh and frozen turkey.” We can only assume they're also referring to “refrigerated” turkeys. … When choosing your turkey, also keep in mind that frozen turkeys take a long time to thaw — one day for every five pounds.
