Christmas shopping can get expensive fast, but BJ’s Wholesale Club is one of my favorite places to stretch the holiday budget—especially when you’re buying food, gifts, decorations and entertaining supplies for an entire family.
I’ve been shopping at BJ’s for years, and Christmas is one of those times when the membership really comes in handy. You can grab gifts for the kids, wrapping paper, appetizers, desserts, batteries and enough paper towels to survive a house full of relatives without making six different stops.
So if you’re wondering what to buy at BJ’s for Christmas in 2026, here’s where I’d start.

Before you automatically head to Amazon or another retailer, check BJ’s gift selection.
I’ve found some surprisingly good gifts at BJ’s over the years, especially when holiday merchandise starts arriving.
Depending on the year and your club, you’ll find gifts for:

- Teens
- Women
- Men
- Grandparents
- Teachers
- Hosts
- Coworkers
- Pet owners
The trick is to look beyond the grocery aisles. Some of the best holiday finds are seasonal items that won’t be there for long.
2. Toys
BJ’s can be a great place to shop for Christmas toys, particularly if you’re watching for holiday promotions.
You’ll find toys for different ages along with games, electronics, ride-ons, dolls, building sets, plush toys and other popular gift categories.

BJ’s has a surprisingly large Christmas decor section.
For 2026, BJ’s is already showing categories including:

4. Christmas Trees
If you need an artificial Christmas tree, BJ’s is worth checking early.
BJ’s carries different heights and styles of artificial trees, including pre-lit options.
This is one Christmas category I wouldn’t necessarily wait until December to shop. The specific height or style you want may disappear as inventory sells through.
Measure your ceiling before you go.
That sounds obvious until you’re standing in BJ’s convincing yourself your living room can absolutely accommodate a gigantic Christmas tree.
5. Wreaths, Garland and Christmas Lights
These are another few items I’d shop relatively early.
BJ’s currently has holiday wreaths, garlands and lighting included in its Christmas decor selection.
If you’re decorating both inside and outside, warehouse-size sets can be especially useful.
Just check how many feet you’re actually getting and compare the unit price instead of assuming the biggest package is automatically the cheapest.
6. Wrapping Paper
This is one of those boring purchases that can actually be a great warehouse-club buy.
BJ’s carries holiday wrapping paper and accessories, and larger rolls are perfect if you’re wrapping gifts for an entire family.
Also look for:
- Gift bags
- Tissue paper
- Gift tags
- Tape
- Bows
- Ribbon
I would much rather buy this stuff early than discover on December 23 that I’ve got six inches of wrapping paper left.
7. Batteries
Christmas morning without batteries is a rookie mistake. 😂
Check what your kids’ gifts actually require before Christmas Eve and stock up.
If your family has a lot of toys, electronics, remotes, decorations and battery-operated lights, buying a larger package at BJ’s can make sense.
And whatever you do, hide some.
Otherwise everyone will use them before Christmas.
8. Holiday Baking Supplies
If you do a lot of Christmas baking, this is where buying in bulk can really pay off.
Check BJ’s for staples like:

The key is buying bulk quantities of ingredients you’ll actually use after Christmas too.
A huge bag isn’t a deal if half of it gets thrown away in February.

You also don’t have to bake everything yourself.
BJ’s bakery and grocery sections are worth checking for ready-made holiday desserts, cookies and treats.
This is one of my favorite ways to save time during December.
Bake the one or two things your family really cares about and buy the rest.
Nobody needs to know. 😂

If you’re hosting Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or any holiday gathering, BJ’s can save you a LOT of prep time here.
Look for easy options such as:
- Cheese
- Crackers
- Dips

- Nuts

- Fresh fruit
- Veggie trays
I love having a couple easy appetizers I can put out while I’m finishing dinner.
It keeps everyone happy—and out of my kitchen.
11. Charcuterie Board Supplies
Warehouse clubs and charcuterie boards are practically made for each other.
Grab a few cheeses, crackers, cured meats, nuts, fruit and something sweet.
You can make a huge board without needing twelve separate grocery-store packages.
This works especially well for Christmas parties, Christmas Eve or when you’re hosting overnight guests.
12. Holiday Party Food
If you’re hosting a Christmas party, don’t overlook BJ’s for the actual meal.
Depending on what you’re serving, you can shop for:

- Disposable leftover containers
If you’re sending food home with family, disposable containers are especially helpful.
Otherwise you may not see your favorite storage container again until next Christmas.
17. Overnight Guest Essentials
This is one category people forget until someone is already driving to their house.

Think about what you’ll need if family is staying with you:

Don’t forget the pets!

September and October

November
Start buying:

- Toys
- Wrapping supplies
- Baking staples
- Batteries
- Paper products
- Shelf-stable party food
December
Finish with:

- Refrigerated appetizers
- Produce
- Party trays
- Last-minute gifts
This spreads out both the work and the cost.
Don’t Assume Bulk Is Always Cheaper
This is one of my biggest warehouse-club rules.
BJ’s can offer excellent value, but don’t buy something simply because it’s a giant package.
Look at the unit price.
If you’re buying 48 of something your family barely uses, you didn’t save money.
Christmas makes it especially easy to justify impulse purchases, so go in with a list.
Check BJ’s Coupons Before Shopping
Before heading to the club, check the current BJ’s digital coupons and promotions.
Holiday merchandise changes quickly, and different categories may go on sale throughout the season.
I also like checking the app before a large trip so I know whether anything on my list has an available offer.
Use Pickup When the Club Is Crazy
Holiday warehouse shopping can get BUSY.
BJ’s offers online ordering with pickup and delivery options on eligible items, which can be especially helpful during December.
Sometimes paying for convenience—or simply avoiding an hour wandering through a crowded club—is worth it.
Don’t Wait Too Long on Seasonal Items
Food is one thing.
Seasonal Christmas merchandise is another.
If you find a particular decoration, Advent calendar, toy or gift that you really want, waiting for a huge clearance discount can backfire.
BJ’s seasonal inventory changes as products sell through.
I’d rather save strategically on everyday items and buy a special Christmas item while it’s actually available.
