Here are a few things to keep in mind when returning items to BJ's:
Does BJ's have a return policy?
First, let's start with the basics. Yes, BJ's return policy is in place, and it's a good one. According to BJ's website, most items can be returned within one year if you have your original receipt or packing slip. Suppose you don't have either of those; no worries! BJ's can look up your purchase using your Membership card number.
There are a few items that BJ's cannot accept returns on and we list those further down in the blog post.
Items recalled by the manufacturer can be returned anytime for a full refund- no receipt necessary! Bring the item back to any BJ's club, and they will take care of the rest unless the manufacturer has requested to get a refund through their website. This happens from time to time. BJ's does specify this on their recall webpage.
If an item you purchased goes on sale after you've already bought it, don't worry! BJ's will refund you the difference if you have your original receipt and the item is still within its return window.
So just bring the item back to the club and your receipt and let them know that you saw it on sale -or it had a clipless coupon or BJ's. They'll take care of the rest!
What is BJ's return policy?
If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase at BJ's, you can return the item to your local club.
General merchandise (excluding electronics) must be in new condition with accessories intact. Returns are accepted within one year of purchase. We will not accept returns on non-grocery items purchased more than one year ago.
How to return an item at BJ's for a refund or exchange?
You can bring your items purchased inside to your local Members' service desk for a full refund or exchange. If you do not have the original receipt, a BJ's employee can look up your purchase with your BJ's membership card.
Is there anything BJ's won't refund?
BJ's does have a few exceptions to its return policy. BJ's will not refund:
Non-Returnable Items
- Lottery tickets, cigarettes, tobacco products, and alcohol (where restricted by state law).
- Gift cards.
- Apparel marked as final sale.
- Items purchased as part of a special event.
- opened DVDs, computer software, and video games.
- Fireworks, or items with gas, oil, or fuel added.
- Bulk purchases of ten (10) or more units of the same item purchased online in the same transaction where the total price exceeds $1,000.
- Products under a manufacturer's warranty have service center-only restrictions. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the manufacturer for assistance with products such as:
- Awnings
- Boats
- Gas-powered outdoor equipment
- Fireworks or items with gas, oil, or fuel added
- Furniture sets purchased over one year ago
- Mattresses that are out of the plastic covering or opened
- Outdoor recreational equipment and furnishings included: pools, screen houses, sheds, spas and saunas, swing sets,s, and trampolines.
- Massage chairs that are opened
How do you get a refund for recalled items?
If an item is recalled, you can bring it back to BJ's Wholesale club- unless BJ's has specified to toss the thing and seek a refund through the manufacturer. You can check BJ's Club recall page for the most updated guidelines for a recalled item.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Refund from BJ's?
BJ's will process your refund within 7-10 business days of receiving the returned item. You will receive an email from Member Care with the status of the return and when to expect the return credit.
BJ's says to keep in mind that it can take up to 30 days for a credit to post to your account. If you still have not seen a credit posted to your account 30 days after your refund notification, don't hesitate to contact your financial institution.
How long do you have to return items to BJ's?
BJ's members have up to a year ( 365 days) to return items. If you purchased an item with an EBT card, items must be returned within 90 days of purchase.
For purchases with a receipt made with SNAP EBT, the returned item may be refunded to the SNAP EBT account or exchanged for the same thing. No cash refunds, credit, or gift cards are allowed.
Can you return an item to a different BJ's Club?
Yes, you can return an item to any BJ's club location.
Does BJ's Always Refund You with Cash?
No, BJ's will refund you with the form of payment you used when you purchased the item.
Can you return an item to BJ's without a receipt?
Yes, you can return most items to BJ's without a receipt. When I've made returns in the past to BJ's, it is helpful for the BJ's employee to know the date you purchased the item. They have to look through all your purchases to find the thing- which can be tedious if you shop a lot or if this return is closer to the 90 days mark.
Can you return a mattress to BJ's?
Yes, BJ's will accept returns for mattresses within 30 days of purchase. To be eligible for the refund, the item must be in excellent condition and not refurbished.
Can you return a TV to BJs?

Can you return an air conditioner to BJ's?
Yes, it must be in like new condition and returned within one year of purchase date.
Can I return Opened Items to BJs?
Yes, but the item must be in like new condition and have everything intact. Everything that came with the original purchase must be in like new condition and in the package.
Can I return an item from BJs.com?
Yes, you can bring the item to your local club's member service desk or log in to your BJs.com account and start a return.
How to start a return to BJs.com
- Login to your bjs.com account
- Tap your name at the top right-hand corner.
- Then tap the manage orders over on the left.
- A list of the items you have purchased with show up.
- Tap the one you want to start a return for.
- Tap the Return order button and follow the prompts.
Can I return clothing and shoes?
Clothes and shoes can be returned at BJ's. Items must be in like-new condition. I've returned clothing items before with the tags cut off but still brought them back, and the item was returned without an issue.
