How Does Goodhousekeeping determine winners?!
From their site: “The Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles, Paper & Plastics Lab tests toilet paper for absorbency, dissolvability, dry strength, and wet strength.
We also measure the thickness, visually inspect them for defects like pilling and ply-separation, and evaluate how easily the sheets tear off the roll.
We then score the softness three ways: First, we have consumer testers come into the Lab and rate the softness in a blind comparison.
Next, we have our testers use toilet paper in real life for additional ratings. Lastly, we use a special machine that mimics what your hand feels to give a computerized softness score.”
