Many of you wonder if BJ's is really the better price. With all my deal shopping it usually is, and if it IS not the better price it may be worth it because it doesn't involve 20 million coupons and a cashback amount.
Let's get a great example going on a product I know many of you love including myself. Persil Laundry Detergent.
We have a recent coupon stack to save $4.00 off Persil Laundry Detergent. Although I am seeing that the $2.00/1 printable coupon may be regional. You also got a Persil coupon in yesterday's newspaper.
- You can check out the list of deals at BJs this month here.
This month until 5/31 at BJs you can pay $15.99 for 179 oz. bottle of Persil.
Here's the breakdown:
Buy 1 Persil Laundry Detergent 170 oz. $19.99
Use the $2.00/1 BJs coupon from the member savings booklet and
Use the $2.00/1 printable coupon here
Final Price: $15.99
At CVS this week you can pay $1.91 for a 40 oz. bottle. Sure a $1.91 is way cheaper then $15.99- but to get that $1.91 price you need to buy 7 bottles, get your hands on 7 coupons and then pay $23.38 out of pocket and get a $10.00 store credit back at CVS.
For me, it sounds like a lot of more for only a difference of $0.04 per ounce.
Here's the breakdown at CVS:
Buy 7 Persil Liquid 40 oz. or Power Caps 16 ct. $4.34
Print 4 $1.00/1 coupons here AND
Use 3 $1.00/1 coupons from RP 5/14/17
Out of pocket cost: $23.38
Receive $10.00 Extra care bucks
Final Price: $13.38 or $1.91 each
There is a $1.00/1 Savingstar offer here too

Usually I am all for getting the best deal at the best price BUT what I have been learning from shopping almost entirely at BJ's is how much time I save by using my coupons at BJ's! 9 times out of 10 if BJ's carries the item and there are BJ's coupons for it- it's cheaper and worth my time to pick it up at BJ's.
BUT when things are tight for the week and I need the best deal every penny counts. Then I decide whether it's worth my time to go the extra length to get coupons back.
BUT I also need to factor in my out of pocket cost at CVS and how I will use that $10.00 reward again because if you do not shop at CVS often you may forget all about your ECB and before you know it they are gone.
So I would love to hear your opinion on this, which place will you be picking up Persil this week and why?

I have the BJs Elite Mastercard that gives 5% back on most club purchases plus 10 cents off every gallon of BJs gas. If the price difference is only a few cents between BJs and other stores, I choose BJs. I can get all of my shopping done in one place and still come out with the best prices.

That is how I feel too. It’s worth it to figure in your time as well as your savings.

I would do BJs because I don’t shop at CVS to use reward dollars! I personally only look at OOP not rewards or gift cards!

Thanks Rachel!
