Whew! What a week, and it's only Wednesday. I had high hopes of posting a pic of my shopping trip this week, but I couldn't find the camera. Sometimes my husband uses it and I have no idea where he puts it.
I didn't even get to the club over the weekend because of work and family needs. However, I did go to Stop and Shop to get some fresh items, and decided to use the protein and ingredients on hand to make some meals. That really helped me to be under budget this week.
My goal was to be under $150. If I had shopped BJs, I would have been over, and close to $200 again.
Here was my shopping trip at S+S (and weekly menu plan below):
Stop and Shop Shopping Trip
S+S Half and Half Cream (1 gallon) – $4.09 (For my coffee fix. You know that about me!)
Eggland's Best Eggs (1 dozen) – $1.99 with store coupon
Great Value Chocolate Ice Cream Tub – $4.50
Acadia Water (24 ct) – $2.99
Sunsweet Prune Juice (6 ct) – $4.49 (for the baby)
Starkist Solid White Albacore Tuna – $1 x 12 = $12
Perdue Chicken Nuggets – $2 x 9 = $18 (My kids eat these on days I work. Good stock up price.)
English Cucumbers (3 ct) – $2.99
Russet Potatoes (10 lbs) – $3.99
S+S Green Beans – $2.50
Organic Scallions – .99
(2) Dole Romaine Salad Blend – B1G1 Free $3.69
S+S Baby Carrots (1 lb) – $1

S+S Bakery Italian Bread (4 loaves) – $1.79 x 4 = $7.16
Total: $75.37

My homemade pizza made with dough from the bakery last week was a flop. The kids liked it, but it didn't taste right to me. It was less expensive to buy the Italian bread from the bakery. The kids asked me to make Italian bread pizza boats again soon.
Here's hoping to get to the club this weekend! I'm sure most of you spend a good amount of time planning, searching for deals, making menus, clipping coupons and then actually shopping. If you have a good tip, I'd love to hear from you.
Oh! And before I go, here is one little tip about Stop and Shop. Meats are marked down on Saturday mornings. If you get there early enough, you may be able to find some deals. By the time I get out of work, all the discounted meat is gone. It might be worth talking to your meat cutter and see if it is the same at your local store (or BJ's). I plan on asking the meat department at BJ's if they ever offer discounted meats. I haven't seen any, though I tend to shop much later in the day.
It's your turn!
What are you eating this week? What are some family-friendly and frugal meals that you like to cook up?
