TikTok shop is still fairly new, and there is a lot of hesitation towards it. I get it, because I was a little skeptical too. I would scroll through and find items, and the shipping prices were crazy HIGH. I thought, how is any of this worth shopping?
But it’s all about shopping the right way, and my goal here on this blog is to show you how to find the deals, know what’s legit, and have fun.

Throughout this post, I’ll be referencing my favorite and most comfortable swimsuit. It’s from a reputable seller/brand.

Step 1: Check the Reviews
The reviews are like the gossip section for shopping. People who’ve already bought the product will spill ALL the tea! Look for ones with pictures or videos. This is a huge advantage to shopping online today, are the video reviews.
If someone says, “This broke in five minutes,” that’s a red flag. But if they say, “This is the best thing I’ve bought all year!” and show proof, it’s probably worth looking into.
Pro tip: If there are no reviews or they sound suspiciously fake (“This is amazing, buy it now!”), Maybe skip it. Not to say that item isn’t amazing, and it hasnt’ had time to get reviews, but if you are newer to shopping in TikTok I’d skip it.
Step 2: Look at the Seller’s Rating
This part is easy. TikTok gives sellers a score, usually shown as stars. More stars = better seller. Fewer stars… well, that might spell trouble. The seller’s rating above is a 4.8 out of 5. You can see it has 602 reviews and how many items it has sold ( 9501)
You’re good to go if most people give them five stars. But if their score looks like the world’s saddest math test result? Nope, out of there.
Step 3: Be Careful with Prices That Seem Too Good to Be True
Okay, the $5 gaming headset might seem like the deal of a lifetime, but come on. A headset for the price of a burger? That’s probably going to look like something from the dollar store.
If the price feels way too low, it might mean low-quality stuff, a scam, or worse—nothing at all! Trust your gut on this one.
Step 4: Double-check the Product Details
Look at the pictures and descriptions like you’re a detective. Do they match what the product is supposed to be? If they’re using blurry or mismatched pictures, that’s not a great sign. And if they don’t even bother to tell you the size, color, or details of what you’re buying, close the app and eat your pizza rolls.
Step 5: See if There’s a Return Policy
Can you return the item if it’s trash or not what you ordered? If they don’t mention returns, that’s a major hint to moving on. A good seller will want to keep their buyers happy and have a clear return policy. I’ve found most items have a return policy, but you have to read through.
Last Tip for the Road
Always think before you buy. Scammers are counting on you to jump in without looking. But now, you’re smarter than that. You’ve got the power to spot the fakes like a pro.
Quick Recap
Here’s your checklist before you click “Buy Now”:
- Look for honest reviews.
- Check the seller’s rating.
- Be cautious of super-low prices.
- Read the product info carefully.
- Check for a return policy (VERY important).
If you’re still unsure after all that, maybe it’s time to say, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Your wallet will thank you later. Now, go forth and shop smart, my friend! Oh, and enjoy those pizza rolls.
