This topic has been the #1 most asked question in my inbox. I've attempted to answer this on my FAQ page, but so many readers are having a difficult time at their club, that I felt it was important to address this issue in a blog post.
Here are the steps I recommend:
1. Print out the coupon policy and take it with you when you shop.
Click here to print BJ's official coupon policy. You can show the policy to the cashier and/or the supervisor.
2. Scrutinize club packs carefully.
Be careful when using multiple manufacturer coupons, to be sure you are using them correctly. If the item is shrink wrapped (such as a twin pack of shampoo), you may use one manufacturer coupon per UPC code.
To help you figure out which items have more than one code, check the price book for the item and the number of UPC codes I could find. I do my best to verify the number of codes for you. (*Note: The price book is a work-in-progress. Prices will vary from region to region.)
3. Escalate the issue.
Don't give up! If you are not having success in discussing the coupon policy with the club management, call or write to the corporate member services department and explain the situation to them.
They have a protocol in place to educate clubs on proper coupon usage. You may reach their customer care department at this link.
My experience with contacting BJ's member care has always been positive. They work hard at resolving issues and helping their members to have a good experience.
4. Call customer care from your cell phone.
Many have had success by calling member services right from the checkout lane. The number is: 800-BJS-CLUB (800-257-2582).
I hope these 4 steps will ensure that you will be doing the “no coupon issues” celebratory fist pump at the end of your shopping trips. I made this baby meme for you to give you a chuckle! It's always a good feeling when things go smoothly at the register.
Have you had problems with using multiple coupons? Leave a comment and let me know!

It might depend on the state you live in bjs might change their policy on the coupons.i haven’t tried ours yet I’m to scared to I’m new to this.i have to go and print some coupons out.
Jen
Hi, I am new to BJ’s. Do the coupons scan through fine or do they need to be manually entered? Such a buying a multipack and using a coupon for each item in the pack? Thank you
Tasia
Hi Jen! The BJ’s coupons usually go through fine and the manufacturer coupons are a hit or miss. Anytime you use more than one they have to be manually entered. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Hi Tasia. I never had a problem ever using coupons at my Bjs, until the other day. The cashier told me that they changed their policy, and now the only take an expired 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after they expire. When i got home ,and had time to think about what she said . I thought to myself. Why would i care about using a coupon , 2 weeks before it was expired! I’m here to get the item now! When she asked me if i wanted the coupon back to use it another time, I said no! Now i know, I should have just took it up to the service counter. Thank you for all the great news i just read here in your blogs. I’m glad you’re here. Patricia

HI Patricia! I hate when things like that happen because it takes us time to process. Technically taking expired BJs coupons varies on each store’s manager. It is not a corporate policy like the stacking of multiple coupons per barcode is. That’s interesting if they are giving coupons back? They should not be doing that! Glad you are here too!

I had this issue with two different purchases yesterday at BJ’s. The register beeped when I tried to use a BJ’s coupon plus more than one manufacturer’s coupon on a multi-pack where the bar codes were clearly visible. The cashier told me that when using a BJ’s coupon, I could only use on manufacturer’s coupon.
I just checked with online chat help at BJ’s and they said this was incorrect and if it happened again, I should speak with the store manager.
Tasia
Yes that is incorrect. The policy is still allowing one manufacturer coupon per barcode. I don’t know why some stores are not following this. I know it is a hassle but take it to the store manager and corporate if need be. BJ’s is a company that wants it’s customers to be happy so let them know when you are not! Hope it all works out for the best Susan!

Have you heard any noise about BJ’s changing their coupon policy, no longer permitting stacking on multipack items, yet failing to update their online coupon policy? Please see an unfortunate experience and BJ’s Customer Care response from a fellow couponer. She posted her experience on 3/12/2015, I just checked BJ’s policy and it still has not been updated to reflect the change.

Good Morning!
Thank you for contacting BJ’s Member Care! I am very sorry that you have had this negative experience at the Tampa clubs. I completely understand your frustration with this issue, and I would be more than happy to assist you today!
Recently, our coupon policy has changed. When purchasing a multi-pack of “individual for sale” packaged items, which is a set of items that could be sold individually (each item has a barcode) shrink-wrapped and sold together, shoppers can now only use ONE manufacturer’s coupon and ONE BJ’s coupon on it. This matches the policy for using coupons on a single item. Previously, Members were able to combine one BJ’s-issued coupons with multiple manufacturers’ coupons. This is no longer valid. Unfortunately, this has not been changed on the website yet.
Thank you for shopping with BJ’s Wholesale Club, where Membership Means More!

Hi Sue!
No, I have not heard any chatter about this. I will say that a few years ago, I had emailed them about the coupon policy and they stated something similar. When I emailed them a 2nd time, they apologized and said they made an error.
I’m hoping this is not true. I’ve emailed member services and hope to hear a positive response. I’ll reply here again to let you know what they say. Thanks for letting me know!
Melanie
Hello Sue,
I’ve heard back from customer care, and they said that the coupon policy on the website is still in effect. I recommend that your friend emails them again. Hope that helps!
Angela
The manager at my bjs told me the same thing. Bjs has change their police on coupons. One bjs and one man. Per item. 🙁
Tasia
I am so bummed to hear that as when I ask about it they tell me there has been no change in the policy. I think some stores managers are just making that their own policy.
Jackie
Hi! I had an experience where the lady at the checkout said she would only accept one coupon per item, unless I proved to her there were multiple UPCs in the multipack. Have you ever had to rip or cut open a package to prove to the attendant that there were multiple UPCs? Should I start bringing scissors to BJs?! Also, she stated that the white sticker was to indicate that the item was not labeled for individual sale. Aren’t the white labels just so the individual UPC won’t scan? I emailed BJs for clarification over 2 weeks ago, but I have never gotten a reply 🙁
Thanks for your website!!!
Melanie
Dear Jackie,
I’m so sorry that happened to you. Yes, I’ve had to prove a package has multiple barcodes. We did tear open the packaging at checkout, and there were stickers over the barcodes to prevent them from being scanned accidentally by the register. I too, had to defend that there were indeed multiple barcodes.
I’m not sure why member services hasn’t responded, yet. I would try again though. It’s important that your club knows the correct way to handle this. Would you please let me know how it goes? I wish you all the best, and I’m hoping for a good outcome.

Continued… Back to the story. This manager stated he would only take one coupon. I tried to show him to toothpaste example on your website. He said in that instance he still would only take one manufacture’s coupon and 1 BJ's coupon (I had no BJ’s coupon) I asked him why he makes up his own policies, instead of adhering to the policies enacted by corporate. I told him that I have

I just sent this to the online submission to BJ's customer service:<br />I need someone from corporate to address this issue. The manager grabbed my Smartphone out of my hand and kicked me out of the store. I am sick of being treated like a criminal by your management, who do not know how to do their jobs. I have been a customer since 1998 according to my card, and I am quite sure it has
