We all know that canned pumpkin is a necessity when you have pet pigs, wait, right not many people have pet pigs! Well, honestly this is only one of the reasons I always keep canned pumpkin in the pantry.
I've never been one to enjoy eating out, even when we do the occasional celebrate life's moments I'm slightly disappointed. I always get the frozen overpriced taste you know?
Having your pantry filled with the right items is key to successful meal planning. Now that Fall has arrived it's time to shed some light on this little gem of goodness- canned pumpkin.
Here are a few ways I use pumpkin around the homestead.
- Boost the immune system for our mini pigs.
- Add it to my smoothie
- Muffins, bread, and casseroles.

Pumpkin is very healthy for dogs as well as humans. Can you say pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread , pumpkin muffins and pumpkin cheesecake.
What a great idea Cheryl, I am going to
Freeze them and give to my dog.
Awesome.. I need to pick some more up
Canned pumpkin is a must have for me. Our 11lb Havanese dog has a “delicate” tummy… I freeze pumpkin in mini silicone ice cube trays and he gets one every morning!!! Total game changer and much better than any pre/probiotic pill!!! BJ’s price can’t be beat!
I love pumpkin in my protein shakes. It keeps me fuller longer and has helped me on my weight loss journey. I will definitely be getting this at BJ’s.
I always keep plenty of canned pumpkin on hand, i use it for baking, substituting for many ingredients. It is very good also to just mix it with low fat cool whip and have it for a low calorie dessert, very yummy. Good also to mix with the cool whip and whipped cream cheese and dip vanilla waffer cookies or fruit in it. So so many things to use canned pumpkin for.
