The Gold Star membership is $60 for the year. When you factor in the shop card and are a first-time Rakuten user, it's like $20 for the membership at Costco. 

The Gold Star Executive Membership is $120.00, and you will receive a $20 Shop Card. The Gold Star membership is more because you receive an annual 2% Reward (up to $1,000)* on eligible Costco and Costco.com purchases, plus additional benefits on select Costco Services.

COSTCO COUPON

If you get the  Executive membership and factor in the Rakuten savings ($40) and the $20 Shop Card, it's like paying $60 for the Costco membership. Costco's coupon is kind of like the Shop Card. They don't offer regular coupons like B.J.'s Wholesale Club. Instant savings are shown in your member booklet and club on the price tags. 

This is one of the best Costco membership deals I've seen in a while.

• Fill out the form with your info
• Agree to auto-renewal of your membership on a Visa card at the time of sign-up.
• Check your email for the Costco Membership Activation Certificate
• Bring the Certificate with you to any U.S. or Puerto Rico Costco location where you can sign up as a new member
  (After that, your Membership Activation Certificate will be converted into a Costco membership, and you'll get your card)
