Ever since BJs launched the new High Octane Gas promo, it's easier than ever to save on a gas fill-up. This is because of their purchase discount and 10¢ off per gallon for any high octane item purchased; members can't seem to get enough!
However, there has been an issue where secondary club members weren't able to redeem those savings until now: with this latest promotion they are finally able to– at least if you have them as your primary member cardholder.
If you aren't familiar with BJs new gas promo, they now allow members to accumulate gas savings throughout the month. The catch is you need to use those gas savings by the last day of each month.
Here's a question brought to my attention.
“Can the secondary person earn gas savings or only the primary?”
And the answer is you can only redeem the gas savings on your own membership card unless you do the following.
For example, if you buy three items off the High Octane Gas list on Oct. 4th, you will save 30¢/gal of gas. Those gas savings are tied to your unique membership number. You can leave that day and choose to fill up on Oct. 15th, and you will be able to save 30¢/gal of gas.

Let's say your husband goes to BJs and buys two more high octane gas items and wants to get gas that day. He is now saving 20¢ off a gallon of gas, but he isn't the primary.
When he goes to fill up, he'll only have the option for the 20¢ off, not the total amount per household of 50¢/gal.
If this frustrates you like it did me and others, there is good news.
I had a popup the other day when I signed into the BJs.com site and made a purchase. The popup told me the primary member on our account needs to go to our local BJs club and pick up a new membership card, so everything is linked together.
It confirmed you would join our accounts, and all savings will be on one account.

If you do not see your awards shared from a BJs perks card, you can add that option at bjs.com in your account or through the app.
You would hit access account. Then rewards. Be sure the box is checked to Share Awards with Household Member.

I signed my son up for the secondary membership. He had his own card and number. I bought 2 qualifying items on my card and had .20 cent off for fuel points. Hw got gas today with his own card and used my points. When i went after him to redeem my points for gas I had none. I went inside to the fesk and they fixed it supposedly. We won’t know umntil we use or cards again.

went to BJ’s the other day, got some items that added up to a 50cents/gal. gas savings but when i got to the pump to get my gas thinking i’ll get the 50cent/gal off price i only got a 10cents off/gal, my account info shows i have 50cent/gal for gas savings to use, but my rewards info shows i have nothing why didn’t this work
I’m pretty sure I read that the points reset after you fill up. Therefore it would make sense that if I buy 3 items, then 2 items, then fill up I get 5 10 cent credits. If my husband then goes to bjs and buys 2 items, and then fills up, he is only going to get 20 cents off. You can’t expect them to let you rack up a bunch of 10 cent credits and apply them unlimited over the course of 30 days and multiple fill ups.

I can’t be the only person who thought just photo copy the one primary card and only use that at the pump to scan the barcode, right? Seems simple but if they give you a new card and fix the issues that is a plus too.
if you use your BJs card it automatically takes off $0.10 so if you buy two items you only get an extra $0.10 off. For instance if I use my BJ’s credit card at the gas pump and only buy one item for the perk I still only get $0.10 off
If I use my BJ’s MasterCard and purchase 2 items on the high octane list I get 30 cents off per gallon; 10 cents for using my card plus the 20 cents for each of the listed items. Not sure why you’re not getting the extras 10 cents. I’d definitely go into the store with your gas receipt. The first time I had an issue with the older program with 25 cents off, the customer service rep fixed it right then and there for me. That was at the Southington CT store. I’ve also never had an issue getting my bonuses at the Wallingford CT store. Good luck & I hope you will be getting your money back!
