After years of wear and tear I wasn't ready to toss our most comfortable couch ever to the curb. Strolling through BJs I spotted this velvet sophistacted looking sofa slipcover for $19.99!
Here's how I easily transformed our couch in a matter of minutes for $20!
This is our couch before. We got this sofa used from Habitat for Humanity Restore five years ago. Not bad for a used couch? It is so comfortable, but our cat has clawed up the sides, and when we got out puppy this summer she did a little chewing.
I do not want to buy a new couch with animals and young kids in the house. When I saw this Great Bay Home couch slipcover for only $19.99 at BJs, I knew it was worth a shot.
In the past, I've looked for slipcovers and they have always ranged in the $60-$100 range.
Not my favorite price range.
$19.99 sure is.
Plus, I'm getting 2% cashback at BJs with my perks membership!
BJs currently doesn't have these online BUT they do have the same brand I used on Amazon here with a BUNCH of different styles depending on the couch you have.
I figured you needed a close-up to see just how destroyed this couch corner is.
Over here, on the other end was the corner the kids hung out on during their toddler snacking and TV time.
Yes, they still hang out here. I love using laundry detergent on the couch to get it clean, but that circle stain is NOT coming out.
It's years of wear and tear when you have kids and animals. Not to mention we had a mini pig in our house going on the couch for a whole entire year!
One final look at the poor old girl.
The slipcover has an elastic bottom to help cover the entire thing without it coming loose. At first I was concerned with the thread like this, but it seems normal and so far it's holding up well.
When you pull it out you want to look for this tag, because this is the corner you will start with.
Position the “HERE” label on the lower right corner of the back of the couch. From this point, start tucking in excess fabric and work around until the slipcover fits your furniture.
Our couch is very wide and wasn't sure it was even going to fit, the specs on it are fits up to a 90″ couch. Ours was just under.
When you pull it over the arms you will see the seams to line up with your armchair.
The fabric is stretchy so you can keep pulling and tucking until you get it to fit correctly on your couch.
The fabric is crazy soft and it's called me to nap on it daily. 🙂
Note it isn't perfect. For $20 it is a great to have with our season of life. This couch is very wide and the armchairs even wider. I am just thrilled it fits end to end.
If you need more ideas to inspire you to freshen up your home but you don't want to spend a dime, read my new article here.
The only hang up is over to the right where the line should be at the bottom. Yet, it doesn't really bother me because in
If you have a couch that needs a freshening up look have you tried a slipcover? This slipcover is machine washable.
I couldn't find this online at BJs.com BUT there is the same product for $49.99 on Amazon. This proves again BJs members do save by shopping the club first.
There were other colors to choose from. At BJ's it was the color I have above and a dark blue. On Amazon here there are 11 patterns to choose from.
