Menu plan Monday posts have been MIA for several weeks. It's not that I haven't been planning my menus I have. Just more of a the day before we eat or even 2 hours before we eat! This week I am back on track feeling motivated and more together!
Things have been crazy with the blogs, kids, and just oh you know life! This week I planned my menu for 2 weeks because I have enough in my freezer and pantry to get creative and plan meals. I took the time to make it a priority, and that is key.
I think many times we feel overwhelmed and can't see beyond the basics and our brains go into panic mode and we end up going out to eat or just throwing in a frozen pizza.
Which there is nothing wrong with, but these types of moves will eat up a budget. That is if you have one.
Maybe you don't need a budget, but I would like to think you do and that's why you are a loyal reader of MyBJsWholesale. There is NOTHING wrong with having a budget. It just means you know where you are putting your money each month. If you are trying to follow your budget and failing this may be why.
If you feel overwhelmed with planning a menu let me suggest to you Real Plans. This is a meal planning app that gives you a menu each week. You can choose to have it plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, or just dinner. You add in what proteins, veggies etc are your families favorites and it makes healthy real food meals from that.
I love this because the ingredients are healthy. If you are stuck in a rut of the same old thing this app is fun because it defiantly throws in some recipes that I am guessing your family hasn't tried before. I need that with meal planning. When you get bored meal planning that is when things get messy and you start to forget about the grocery budget because you are in panic mode of feeding your family.
Meal planning is how you can save money on your groceries AND if you use coupons or free grocery apps this is one way to get through those times when finances are tight.
If you don't care for the meal planning app you can find thousands of recipes online or at your local library if you still like the actual book in hand. Which I still do too but I also love having my grocery list on my phone and swiping away the items I put in my cart.
You can always try your hand at Freezer Meals too. I did one using BJ's ingredients but a quick search on Pinterest will bring up many that can be used at any store. I love doing it at BJ's because we get large quantities of items allowing us to create more than one meal at a time.
