Shopping in bulk was never something I thought I would be doing as an adult. I was the skeptical one. I knew I didn't want a huge family and I didn't see why a smaller family would need 12 cans of beans at a time or 3 lbs of grapes.
Quickly as all parents learn, everything you envisioned for yourself doesn't usually pan out that way. I've been a BJs member for 10 years now.
I believe there is a plan already in place for us. Just like with this blog. I really didn't see myself not going to work full time now that both the girls are in school all day, to stay home and talk about my favorite place to shop! Yet for me, the Lord has a different plan. A better plan.
To sum it all up, it does not matter what size your family is, everyone can benefit from shopping at a wholesale club.

I see many people shopping at BJs and only have a gallon of milk and a pack of hot dogs. Long gone are the days of people shopping at wholesale clubs monthly.

I'm no longer a daily shopper at BJs- now that I live out in the country and can't walk to BJs I'm a few times a week.
Now all BJ's locations in our area ( state of New York) have express checkout lanes. This, my friends just made quick shopping at BJs a whole lot easier.
It's also an advantage over Costco because their CEO said they do not plan to add self-checkout lanes soon.
Too bad Costco shoppers, BJs is where all the cool shoppers at. We get in and we get out.

Now you can check out with under 15 items. In reality, a cart filled at BJs with 15 items can look quite full. It works the same way as the other self-checkout lanes.
These ones are more compact. Allowing the club to add more in a smaller space. This goes nicely with the express scanners select BJs clubs have rolled out to allow a faster checkout process.
The express lanes at BJ's Wholesale club are shorter. Many times while I am waiting in line I have to tell others about the express lanes. They are short and compressed shoppers are missing out.

Self checkout is ok but really makes me feel like I’m back at work at Sam’s club. I worked customer service membership and returns. Sometimes the lines at self checkout are very long , think I’ll wait to be waited on.
I always seem to have more than 15, even if it isn’t a *big* trip. I love finding the oddball little things you don’t see at other places! I could spend hours in the middle of the store lol
Many times, the BJ’s cashiers can scan the items in your cart, you don’t have to lift and place your items on the belt, nor do they have to lift your purchases back in your cart.
We have self check outs in our Port Orange FL BJ’s makes life easier when you just want to run in for a few items and not get stuck behind a person doing a months worth of shopping

No compressed checkouts at my BJs. But we do have the self scan for 10 items or less which I really like. I put items in my cart so the barcode is easily visible and scan quickly. Only caveat is if a coupon is rejected or if I buy wine. But I know this now, so it’s not a big issue.

We always end up with too much for an express lane, but it’s a great tip for those who shop there often! We usually go twice a month.
My BJ’s got a 15 items and under about 8 months ago. I love it when I run in for a few itmes. I can get in and out quickly. Cause somedays the registers are backed up.
I’m apparently to stupid for self checkout Lanes, LOL, because every time I try to use one, I screw it up somehow! My brother, on the other hand, loves it! He flies through there like a sprinter!!
This would benefit me because I always have 15 items or less. I live close to my BJ’s so I can go often.
My BJ’s have self check out but not sure about the scanner. It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve been in store but will have to check it out
I was never a BJ’s shopper until I got a deal on my membership.. figured it was worth it to have in addition to my Sam’s club membership.. well…. I’ve let my sam’s club membership lapse. ?

I like that you can use the gun to scan items in your cart without taking them out in the express lane. I’m hoping our BJ’s gets the scanners. You scan your items as you shop and just pay through an app.
Toms River, NJ has it. Makes my life easier….when I run in after work for lunchmeat. I really don’t want to wait behind full carts for my 4 packages of lunchmeat. LOL

The bjs near me and the Costco’s near me have the self check out. It’s greaf for people needing a quick run but when people go through with a ton, it takes a long time. It’s a great thing when used “properly”
